About the Home

One of Mobile’s most treasured historic landmarks is the Richards-DAR House Museum in the De Tonti Square District. The 1860’s Italianate townhouse with its unique four seasons lace ironwork is approximately 10,000 square feet and is filled with period furnishings. Cornelius and Baker chandeliers, Carrara marble mantels in the double parlors, a cantilevered staircase in the entry hallway along with the ruby Bohemian glass lights surrounding the front door offer visitors a peak into how Captain Charles Richards and his wife Caroline Elizabeth Steele Richards lived in downtown Mobile in that time period.
